Mark Barnes

Mark Barnes is a 20-year veteran classroom teacher and author of Role Reversal: Achieving Uncommonly Excellent Results in the Student-Centered Classroom (ASCD 2013). Mark's Results Only Learning Environment replaces traditional teaching and learning with a student-centered classroom that puts autonomy and results in the hands of the learner, while successfully integrating 21st-century Web 2.0 and social media tools. 

As a leading consultant in education technology, Mark has developed five online courses for educators on web-based instruction, Web 2.0 and social media integration. His award-winning web site,, is a vast library of how-to and lesson-starting videos for teachers.

A Discovery Education Network Star Educator, Mark has presented web-based instruction and results-only learning at the International Conference on Learning, the International Society for Technology in Education Conference, the ASCD Annual Conference and Exhibit Show, the eTech Ohio Conference and many others around the U.S. In the summer of 2011, Mark was an organizer and presenter at the Global Reform Symposium, an online conference that attracted thousands of attendees from more than 40 countries. Mark's training has been called "beyond helpful, engaging, interesting, professional, beneficial, wonderful, and fun."

When not writing and presenting, Mark enjoys golf, fantasy football, any episode of Star Trek and spending time with his wife and two children.
