Michelle Muro holds an undergraduate degree in music education from at Bowling Green State University. She has a master's degree in music education from the University of Akron and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Ashland University. Currently, she is completing a gifted endorsement through the University of Cincinnati.
Michelle taught K-6 general/vocal/choral music for 22 years at Southeast Local Schools. Throughout this time she became a published author in Triad, wrote numerous grants, directed dozens of concerts, participated in Solo & Ensemble, acquired Kodaly I certification, assisted with Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) state conference planning, and also served as an OMEA Solo & Ensemble Adjudicator, Resident Educator Program Coordinator, Lead Mentor, and Cooperating Teacher.
Dr. Muro is a credentialed OTES evaluator and an SLO trainer. She has a passion for professional development and has worked with hundreds of teachers across Ohio. Michelle serves as the OMEA State Teacher Evaluation Chair. This year Dr. Muro will present at the Ohio Art Education Association conference in Toledo and the Ohio Music Education Association conference in Columbus. She also serves on the state board for Ohio Alliance for Arts Education and was selected to be on the 2013 ODE Fine Arts Model Curriculum writing team.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys the arts, theater, and watching her boys play piano, hockey, soccer, basketball, and baseball. During the summer months, she enjoys boating and tubing with her family, riding on bike trails, and gardening.
